Shamir Sun Intelligence Progressive Lenses
Shamir has recently added Sun Intelligence to its lens lineup, and we're excited to now have it as an option for our progressive sunglass wearers.
Even better, Sun Intelligence progressive lenses are included in our 2026 Shamir Lens Event.
Why do we like them? Because instead of taking an everyday progressive design and simply adding a sunglass tint, Sun Intelligence changes the progressive design itself for outdoor vision.
The design adjusts depending on your prescription and the sunglasses you choose. A flatter fashion frame can have a more balanced progressive design, while more curved and wrapped frames can place greater emphasis on the wider distance and intermediate vision we use while moving outdoors.
Shamir also introduced the new Vital Color Enhancement Technology, available in select lens materials for Sun Intelligence. Rather than simply making the lens darker, Vital is designed to enhance colour differentiation and contrast through specialized sun tints, giving us another way to customize not only how your sunglasses look, but how you see through them.

A NEW DESIGN
We actually use our vision differently outdoors. Our eyes scan a wider area, shift focus more quickly and rely heavily on distance and intermediate vision, often while we're moving.
Shamir studied these differences and used them to develop a progressive specifically for outdoor vision.
A WIDER VIEW
Shamir's research found that we naturally use a wider field of vision outdoors. Sun Intelligence progressive lenses are designed accordingly, providing:
44% wider horizontal field of vision
25% greater vertical field of vision
The design also adapts to the size and curve of your sunglass frame. Flatter fashion frames maintain a more balanced range of vision, while more curved and sport-oriented frames place greater emphasis on the wide distance and intermediate vision we rely on while moving outdoors.
COATINGs
Sun Intelligence can still be customized with the sunglass options you know, including polarization, different lens colours, sun-specific coatings and mirror options.
But Sun Intelligence now comes in the new Vital Color Enhancement Technology. This is an innovative colour enhancement technology designed to make the world around you appear more vibrant and defined.
By selectively filtering certain wavelengths of light, Vital helps enhance reds, greens and blues, bringing out subtle details and improving colour contrast. The result is a richer, more vivid outdoor visual experience, while maintaining natural looking colours.
Vital is an optional lens enhancement coating, available in select lens materials and tint colours. It is not polarized, making it a different option from traditional polarized sunglasses.

2) Shamir Drivers Intelligence Progressive Lenses
ANOTHER NEW LENS DESIGN OPTION
Shamir has also introduced Driver Intelligence, a new driving-specific lens system that immediately caught our attention and is included in our 2026 Shamir Lens Event.
Why do we like it? Because instead of expecting one pair of glasses to perform the same way in completely different driving conditions, Driver Intelligence is designed as a set of two pairs: Sun for daytime driving and Moon for night and low-light driving.
Both are available as progressives and are designed around the way we actually use our vision behind the wheel.

Today's drivers are constantly shifting their focus between the road, mirrors, dashboard, navigation and digital displays, while also dealing with changing light, glare and increasingly bright headlights.
Shamir studied 14 million driver gaze points, more than 80 vehicles and 200 driving scenarios to understand where and how drivers actually look.
The result is a progressive design with an emphasis on the distance and intermediate vision we rely on most while driving.
SUN + MOON
SUN | DAYTIME DRIVING
Designed for bright daytime conditions with Glacier Sun UV coating to help manage sun glare, UV exposure and reflections. The daytime pair also has the option of Vital Color Enhancement Technology, which we introduced above, for enhanced colour differentiation and contrast.MOON | NIGHT & LOW-LIGHT DRIVING
Designed for reduced illumination, headlights, streetlights and digital displays, with Glacier Expression anti-reflective coating to help reduce reflections and visual distractions. The lens design also takes into consideration the changes in vision that can occur in lower light.
We like that Driver Intelligence recognizes that day and night driving are not the same visual experience, and gives each its own purpose-designed lens rather than trying to make one pair do everything.
And because Driver Intelligence is purchased as a two-pair Sun + Moon set and both pairs are included in our 2026 Shamir Lens Event, the savings on this option can be substantial.
